“October Surprise”? Sudden Economic Meltdown Could Throw Elections, Decide Next President

    The warning is out there.

What happens between now and the elections could be more chaotic than (almost) anyone imagined.

Hillary has been struggling in the polls, and Trump had some difficult moments in the debate. As it stands, things could swing either way, and the establishment has more than one trick up their sleeve.

But are they planning another notorious ‘October Surprise’ to bring an unpredictable and superseding factor into the account before the election? The Iranian Hostage crisis gave Reagan and the shadow government team backing him the secret advantage in 1980.

Today, we could see something truly unforeseeable, and it could launch one of the two candidates right into office.

Namely, if the shoe drops on the economy before November, it will be clear we are in a whole new ballgame.

    And it could happen.

Conventional wisdom says that a serious economic downturn might help to boost Trump into the White House, but this is anything but a conventional political cycle, and all the typical advice is out the window.

A bigger enough financial crisis could also give Hillary the pretext to assert how she would take charge of the government and economy in one carefully-manipulated vehicle. With Hillary so close to Goldman Sachs and Wall Street, it could be claimed that she has the ‘serious leadership’ and ‘tough experience’ that Trump the businessman has never dealt with.

If the disaster is big enough, it will be only the ‘big boys’ and establishment hacks who can be trusted to deal with the fallout. Of course, that’s just one scenario that could play out.

But the point is, that a major disaster is on the horizon, and it may well collide with the electoral process. This would put Americans at a sudden loss, but in uncharted waters as far as central bank and government control over our lives.

Trump is claiming the Federal Reserve bubble could explode before the election… does he know something the rest of us don’t?

OCTOBER SURPRISE! Donald Trump Says Economic Meltdown
    To Happen Before The Election!

The United States is at a crossroads, and after the next shoe falls, there may be no turning back.

          Serious question.
Got freeze dried food with a 25 year life, nearly 20 years old.

          How and why 25 years?
If unopened, still in container, cool and dry, why not 50 years?
I will keep it past date, but there must be a law about it stating so.
          Honey keeps for centuries.

          Something to think upon…

          • eppe says:

Honey condiment packets could be a tradeable iten when and if shtf actually happens.

            Never go bad on you…
            Investment and prepper tip…

            • Plan twice, prep once says:

Honey never spoils, but what is in those condiment packs is likely 80% corn syrup and only 20% honey. Never the less suckers money/trade value holds fast.

Great idea to use the pretty for barter, save the real honey for your family/ tribe!

American Indians sold their land for worthless beads.

(Not being derogatory towards Native Ameticans, it’s just in the coming SHTF we will all be the Indians).

              • I kept about a half dozen honey packets in my truck. They’ve been in there for about a year and all of them have turned a really dark brown and a little runny. Maybe the temperature in my truck did it I’m not sure.

                • Leonard says:

Honey usually crystallizes, It doesn’t get runny. Probably was mostly corn syrup. BTW, crystallized honey turns back into the semi-liquid product we all know and love by merely heating it.

              • Leonard says:

I have long questioned that account of the Indians selling land for beads. I believe that the real story is that a European, speaking in his native language, informed Indians that didn’t speak that language that they were offering the beads to purchase land, and the Indians, not knowing what was said to them, didn’t protest, hence, the sale was presumed to be “closed”. Just one man’s opinion…

                • durangokidd says:

History lesson: There are signatures on the deed/agreement.

The Indians thought that land was “free” and could not be “owned” so they thought they were selling the white man something they didn’t own (LTAO); like if you were sitting next to a corvette at a park and an admirer came along and you sold it to him.

If you took a check you would be dumber than the buyer, but if you took “wampum” it was a barter for something you had never seen before: metal knives, axes, and manufactured beads. Ownership of land was not a concept indigenous to the Native American psychology. It was something they acquired from Europeans.

Remember for 12-14,000 years after the Ice Age their civilization never invented the wheel. They were not stupid, just stuck in a time warp. Their civilization did last for 12-14,000 years but every good thing must come to an end.

Western Civilization has lasted about 2-3,000 years and we have the ability now to destroy everything. Even the Chinese have only been organized for 5-6,000 years.

It was a good run while it lasted. 🙂

                • Plan twice, prep once says:

You mean like show an Indian chief a pretty piece of paper with pretty writing, look a pen, I can sign here, here’s the pen you try to make a pretty mark right here…….. Very nice, here’s more pretty beads. I’ll give the pretty paper to my king to hang on his refrigerator……. Thus was born the first land deed in the new world.

              • “American Indians sold their land for worthless beads. ”

Did they really or is that the American government propaganda spin on it? After all many think the Indians got what they deserved because they were such a bunch of ignorant savages, right? I don’t believe this lie that we were taught in school.

The Indians were not morons. Look up the Iroquois Confederacy to learn more about the people Americans love to insult and ridicule.

There was a carjacking today at a Walmart in Harrisburg pa. Guy jumps in a car, two women were in it, he says he’s gonna kill them if they don’t do what he says. So they start driving down the road and the lady who wasn’t driving pulled out her pistol and fired. Guy gets out and starts running, possibly wounded. Manhunt, choppers, dogs, the works. Damn gun toting woman. Poor guy just needed a ride.

          • Plan twice, prep once says:

            Long term food storage?

Generally recommended expiration is based on worst case storage conditions, no A/C, minimal heat (freezie thaw cycles not allowed) and poor humidity control 30 to 90%. Under ideal conditions that life can be doubled.

If it’s in cans, humidity corrodes and can end the product. Cool and dry is the key. If I had a root cellar with humidity control, I’d be in prepper heaven.

Cheese stored by civil defense from the 50’s is still being fed to children in US public schools 60 years later.

Last best tip. Oil is essential in our diets. Rehydrated freeze dried works, but add a few tablespoons of olive oil and you have some energy, taste, and needed nutrients to better digest and exploit freeze dried foods.

Typical foods that are freeze dried are either low in oils or have oils pressed out to insure it keeps. Thus powdered butter has but a five year shelf life, canned butter has a better lifespan. I bought some canned butter, but it’s expensive, I bought some for a moral food, it will be rationed.

Oil in bottles (like olive oil) expires in just one year, but frozen it keeps indefinitely. Thus I freeze all oils that I buy and I keep about a two year supply in the back bottom of the freezer. Don’t worry if it’s in glass bottles, it doesn’t expand like water when it freezes. The glass is a bit more fragile at freezing temps, consider cardboard sleeves, but it keeps just fine. I rotate it it and use it. Once defrosted that one year expiration starts. Oil could be refrozen I believe.

It is the missing link for survival. Nutritionally eating dandelions and grass will not sustain you, add oil and vinegar, and it makes all the difference. Add freeze dried onion, mushrooms, tomato, peppers and cheese, and you’ll be the fat man on the block!

            • Redoubt Renee says:

Look into canned Ghee. No freezing needed and you need less for cooking. Also, if you are raising a milk producing animal, you can make butter and ghee(which is clarified butter).

          • Dear Eppe,

Regarding your comments, yes, that shelf-stable food is good for 50 years or more. Just keep it in a cool, dry area with no extremes and sudden extreme changes in temperature.
There’s a site out there that gives the true meaning for all of the shelf dates and expiration dates, explaining how they are a guideline for when it is at its peak, but (most foods) are still safe and viable long after the date is reached.
The IGA (Int’l Grocers Assn.) and the FDA are in cahoots to make product rotate and keep the commercial hamster wheel spinning. Companies throw out stuff or give it to food banks and still write it off at cost, as a loss.
Please be advised: for antibiotics, such as penicillin and tetracycline, those two in particular..get rid of ’em when they expire…they break down and cause hepatotoxicity (poisonous to the liver). Amoxicillin, on the other hand, lasts the longest I’ve found…more than 15 years, and I personally used 16 year old Amoxicillin and it worked.
If you enter “expiration dates” a site will pop up with all of this stuff pertaining to food. Meds aren’t as long-lasting, and you’ll have to do some research on each one. Maybe I’ll do an article on all of this stuff, and dedicate it to you, if you wish.

            Respectfully Yours,

            JJ

The only food I had for months was dated early 1950’s
“C” rations. All except the ham and eggs was pretty good.
If you could heat up the ham and eggs they weren’t all that bad.
I’ve eaten MREs that were the same age. Humans will eat anything, that is why we are here, alive, and prospering.

Expired Pharmaceutical Medications just loose their efficacy/ potency as time rolls on and basically it turns into placebos. Expired Meds is what you barter out to someone else. Also handling meds which you have no prescription for, or experience in administering, will get you in trouble or get you dead, or cause adverse reactions or allergic reactions. Do you homework, pretenders playing Doctor will kill people. The Goal is DO NOT Do MORE HARM to the Patient. Stupidity will kill a lot of people in SHTF. Mostly self inflicted via EGO’s.

Antibiotics give you candida (yeast overgrowth). What are the best solutions in SHTF. Most now take probiotics. Aren’t there probiotics in fresh yogurt? What else? I heard years ago people actually ate healthy people’s feces to cure stomache issues caused by a yeast problem. What I want to say is too funny, but I’ll withhold myself. Lol!?

I have a doctor friend who advised that amoxicillin that is old is still good, but you should increase the dose as it may loose it’s potency.

              Point of Order.

Grocery stores can write off food donations at MARKET VALUE, not cost. That’s the incentive to donate rather than just throw it out. 🙂

              • durangokidd says:

As for the taste of freeze dried foods, I am expecting to mix it with canned food, like, say beef stew, to stretch the grub and improve the taste.

          • WhoWTFKnows... says:

Smart Preppers rotate their food out like ammo on a regular basis, stooped people wait till the expiration dates are about to expire, then panic asking stooped questions like why not 50 years? No worry though, since you have no weapons and still live in the burbs, you will have less than 6 months to live. So for you, don’t worry about it. lol

~WWTI… Dopes give bad advice. Smart people know the difference.

            • eppe says:

How does one rotate 25 year freeze dried food?
              Spin the container 90 degrees?
              Canned food, sure.
              Meds, yes.

Too bad you will die early as a lone wolf.
Your neighbors are waiting on the right time to take you out.

                • Plan twice, prep once says:

If you go to hotels that serve a breakfast bar, the trays of eggs are always powdered eggs. Yet people eat them up. I’ve never heard of anyone complain, unless the powder to water ratio was off, or they rushed them out before the water was absorbed. A good cook can add a few spices and make a world of difference. The taste of the water used to rehydrate is also important.

I know I’ll be less than overjoyed if I must eat freeze dried. But if there is nothing else, it will be wonderful on that day. My prior comment suggesting a quality oil to add to cooking stands. A lot of flavor comes from the fat in food. Freeze dried has little fat, that must be remedied. There’s few calories in freeze dried and a lot in oils. Find the right blend.

                • Plan twice, prep once says:

                  Final thought,

To those that say you can’t eat gold. Gold has since the beginning of recorded time bough bread. The going rate has varied from 300 to 388 loaves per Troy ounce. In good times its 320 to 350 loaves per ounce.
                  https://www.coins-auctioned.com/learn/news/history-of-gold-ounce-price-comparison-to-a-loaf-of-bread
The only time in history gold doesn’t buy bread is when there isn’t any bread. Thousands of fiat currencies have come and gone, but gold always buys bread.

For the day gold fails to buy bread, freeze dried food will taste just fine.

    4. No money, no food. Canned goods have been taken from the bottom of the Ocean and they were still good. No bacteria was found. Slight reduction in nutrition compared with newly canned items. Best by dates are a good way for you to keep tract but have no real meaning for consumers. They are there to keep track of inventory, for the most part.

Do not keep tomatoe products in cans for long term. Tomatoes corrode the can. They are acidic.
Check all cans for swelling. A sure sign of bacteria is a swollen top or bottom or one that flexes when you press on it.

      __

    5. I don’t keep metal cans long term anymore. I had stocked up a bit for Y2K but, like B frum CA sez, the maters ate the cans. I ended up composting what I didn’t want or eat.

We home can our “stockpile” in glass. From mountain beef to valley beef. From collards to cauliflower. It keeps forever as long as the seal is good. A couple years ago, I was arranging food and came across a quart of pears that was at least 15 years old. The fruit was still good but soft. I don’t much care fer pears is why they were still there.

I just opened a jar of chicken marked 2009 and made some chicken noodle soup on this damp rainy day. Good stuff.

We also got those Tattler reuseable lids a couple years ago to try out. They are still holding their seal, so I would recommend them.

We got a five gallon bucket of kraut goin’ that will need canned up in a few weeks. You don’t really need to can it if you have a cool cellar, but we choose to. If you do your own food you know what is in the jar as far as chemicals (none) and preservatives (salt, vinegar).

    9. Billy says:

If it appears Trump is going to win TPTB will do at least one of four things; make real threats against him forcing him to blow the election, somehow compel the majority of those who cast the electoral votes to vote for HC, orchestrate mass cheating at the polls (for which the Dems are famous), or any combination of these. If DT continues and does win they will collapse the economy and create social mayhem in the interim between the election and the inauguration of the new prez.
They want to hand over the country to HC in as good as shape as they can and trying to hold it all together until then. She despises the middle class as does those institutions that support her and working to get her elected. The MSM is constantly denigrating and ridiculing DT, even personally, hardly objective, it is obvious they are a de facto arm of the statist government/corporate/elitist entity, and already trying to convince the public it’s basically over to diminish the probability that DT supporters will vote.
If HC wins then each and every citizen should conduct their lives in the same manner as she has (after all, she has done nothing wrong, right). A majority is not necessary, if only a large segment does this it will render society unmanageable, ungovernable. Either way, the fun is about to begin.

      • WhoWTFKnows... says:

Archivist, Yes, That Hurricane Matthew, sounds wicked. Glad it’s taking a sharp right turn and heading north. We don’t need that over here in the warmer waters of the Gulf. Hope the best for you all up there in NC. Batten down the hatches. How far inland are you? The Atlantic coast will get hammered, storm surges and beach erosion from FL to Virginia.

Keep this website handy to see the tracking of Matthew:

        ht tp://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?5-daynl#contents

~WWTI… That site tracking Map is a good illustration of how big it really is. Also check out the other maps associated with it, wind speed, rain, etc.

        • Archivist says:

I’m not on the Outer Banks, but I’m pretty close. If Matthew comes anywhere near here, we will lose power and the back yard will flood as we own to the centerline of the swamp.

The area had pretty bad flooding from the remnants of Julia, and it is still wet around here. So there will be really major flooding if Matthew gets close. Our house won’t flood, but the area roads will flood, so we will be stuck at home for a few days.

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating working Americans out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. Government cannot give to anybody anything that government does not first take from somebody else. When half the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to pay for them – and when that paying half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they worked so hard for, then that, my friend, is the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth to help the poor by dividing it.
