Backlash As CNN Provides Pro-Iran Regime Coverage Amid Widespread Anti-Government Protests

CNN’s recent coverage of protests in Iran have sparked outrage on social media after the liberal news outlet appeared to report only on pro-regime demonstrations.

After virtually no coverage Friday, CNN put out an article Saturday morning originally titled “Iranians Hold Pro-Government Rallies,” which got the attention of conservatives in both media and Congress.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) also weighed in, evoking the Soviet Communist Party propaganda “newspaper” Pravda in a tweet.

“Guys, when you’re being accused of being fake news propaganda, maybe try not to write stories that read like Iranian Pravda….(or the Onion!)”

Cruz also gave a statement on Facebook calling for the U.S. to support the Iranian people.

CNN has since updated its article, now entitled “Iran’s Government Warns Against ‘Illegal’ Gatherings After Protests.”

Although CNN is not using the more appropriate and accurate headline “Iranian People Protesting Tyrannical Islamic Regime Across Country,” it’s still a step in the right direction.

To be fair, CNN’s own Jake Tapper has been providing decent coverage of the Iranian protests in Saturday morning tweets and retweets.

Still, it’s not surprising CNN would do such a thing. Lately they’ve been off their game with recent coverage, such as earlier this month when it reported on an email sent to Donald Trump Jr. offering special access to WikiLeaks documents – only for it to be revealed that those documents were already on public record.

All 6 or 7 CNN viewers are exhilarated.

      • durangokidd says:

Look at it this way: CNN would not be able to provide US with any coverage if they were not Pro Iranian Government propaganda supporters.

        Assimilate the data accordingly. 🙂

    2. Nimrod says:

Sounds like CNN is trying some reverse psychology. They know they’re hated, so they’re trying to stick up for the group they actually want you to hate.

This is another sideways attack on Syria also.

      • Heartless says:

Nimrod, whereas I agree CNN should be reviled, nothing happens without a cause or purpose. And the blatant slap at the protestors is exactly the same type of mechanism used during the previous administration. Just keep in mind that the goal of those in the shadows IS a nuclear-capable Iran. As it has been for a nuclear-capable NK. As it has been for Bashar al-Assad to remain the President of Syria. All of these and more are not accidents; nor, a mistake by CNN. The swamp is really an almost bottomless pit of quicksand or like the La Brea tar pits. You don’t drain that as easily as you would a swamp. It would be like trying put out the fires of hell with a garden hose using the supposed tactics now being employed.

    3. gandhi says:

      Communist News Network, why not?

      • Shiva says:

And exactly what has iran ever done to you or me? Nothing? Who fuckin cares what they do over there, mind your own god damm business. Are they threatening us (your masters want you to think so)? Why all this hype about iran? Mi9ght as well attack zimbabway or some other puny country the size of idaho just because they wear a different hat. Are you such a pussy that iran scares you? I swear, fuckin idiots..

        • TommyD says:

i thought Trump was going to MAGA? Not meddle in a country 10,000 miles away. I thought he was going to bring jobs back and build infrastructure? He is just another Neocon puppet. Just hope he does’nt start WW3. You clowns won’t be able to jerk off with your Guns if you are dead in a Nuclear War

        • Hey, Iran has some beautiful womenz. We need to break down barriers and democratize the shit out of that country so our home grown niggers can have access to dem wyminzs.

        • DBGStone says:

Guess we can just skip over that entire embassy/hostage thingy.

        • Braveheart1776 says:

Shiva, I remember when the Islamic radicals took over Iran in 1979 and shortly afterward took 52 of our people hostage at the US Embassy in Tehran. We didn’t get them back until Ronald Reagan’s inauguration in Jan. 1981. In 1983, the hizballah terror group, SUPPORTED BY IRAN, murdered almost 250 of our servicemen in Beirut. They took some more of our people hostage during the 80s and killed them. There is an uprising taking place all over Iran right now that the MSM is not covering at all. I’ve known a few Iranians and they’re good people. They have suffered under almost 4 decades of Islamic terror and oppression. Lebanon is now under Iran/Hizballah control, terror, and oppression. Bashar Assad in Syria now depends almost totally on Iran and its proxies to help him stay in power because he lost 60-70% of his own army in the civil war there. Iran sponsors terror groups all over the Middle East. Those Shiite Islamic radicals are barbarians. Now who’s the idiot?

          • Shiva says:

Well you are. Why are these people there in the first place? Why did we back they’re enemies? Who isn’t on the Rothschild list of central banks? Why are we involved in their countries at all? Here’s a nice list for you to read.

            • Shiva says:

Seriously, imagine if you exchanged places with them. Your country is being messed with and politically manipulated and sanctioned by some foreign assholes. What would you do?

              • Braveheart1776 says:

Shiva, I know perfectly well the situation we face here at home so I’ve been preparing for it for years. I’ve been at my BOL during the holidays and have to drive back home tomorrow. still have to work and pay taxes to support the freeloaders, etc. I have no illusions about what’s coming. I’m just as much against the US being involved in other countries as anyone here. The only way I see out of this whole nightmare is civil war 2 and it’s coming. I’ll stand up and fight when the time comes.

                • Brave, I appreciate you expressing your opinion about Iran. But I would disagree. The US overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran back in the 1950’s. We put our choice in power. The Shah. We built his secret police force for him. The Iranians have every right to hate us. As for who is the worst state sponsor of terrorism? That would be the government in Washington DC. Al Qaeda, ISIS, KLA, PKK, MEK, Al Nusra and probably a few I’ve forgotten. The Iranians are competing for influence in their neck of the woods against the terrorists who attacked us on 9-11. The Saudis.

                  • Historian says:

Precisely so. Having subverted DOZENS of regimes (including the duly-elected regime of President Mosadegh in Iran, the Anglo-Zionist hypocrites wail about Iranian and Russian influence… not a peep about AIPAC or Kushner/Chabad influence.

Similarly Braveheart, BLIND to the million killed by “our” Zionist-Occupied Gvernment, wails about the hundreds killed by Middle Easterners.

                    Go figure.

Good post Braveheart. We try to teach folks about history or remind them if they’re like me and old as dirt. But those folks that belong to the HATE AMERICA FIRST tribe will not consider the context of actions our country does in response to bad actions by others. They always want to blame the USA.

      • 41MagMan says:

Yep, that or Completely Nincompoop Nimrods. And to think that they’ve managed to take a world-class news organization that EVERYONE watched to complete irrelevance in only about 20 years. That should be a major accomplishment of idiocy in the annals of journalistic history. Well earned, well deserved.

    4. IrishCatholic says:

CNN, can go to Tehran with their pro-Iranian attitude, and pathetic attitude towards actual freedom. Basically, I’m saying to CNN, F-YOU, go hang each of yourselves in Tehran’s main square, and die, oh be sure to fill your fat lying mouths with delicious pork as the rope tightens around your necks! Hopefully, no one will cut you down for days, and you all can just hang there.

    5. Jim in Va. says:

CNN hates Trump so much that they pull for the Iran regime. CNN has no clue….

    6. MikeH says:

Another color revolution attempt by the West. I’m really surprised CNN isn’t cheerleading this along like they have before. I’m no fan of the Iranians but I can’t support the US “might makes right” foreign policy either.

    8. Bert says:

In this instance CNN is on the right side, it is the NEOCONs from Israel/Brussels/London/NY and the NWO/war industrial complex that wants the regime change in order to rape the nation of its resources and put the people into debt slavery. OK, next week it will be HATE THE RUSSIANS turn and then NKs turn.

    9. Anonymous says:

Paid protesters. Courtesy of CIA and Mossad. Make the mullahs sweat a little bit.
After the Revolutionary Guard opens fire, no more protesters.

    10. Anonymous says:

As far as I am concerned the news outlets are not covering this nearly enough. Nothing like this has happened there since the late seventies, and in light of all the so called arab spring nonsense could further destabilize the region. There is also a huge earthquake swarm going on right on the faultline where a nuclear reactor is built.

    11. Anonymous says:

CNN is not new nor is fox nor is msnbc nothing mainstream is news. It is entertainment, distraction and propaganda mind fucking

    12. TharSheBlows says:

This part is 100% Correct. Bert nailed this. It is the NEOCONs from Israel/Brussels/London/NY and the NWO/war industrial complex that wants the regime change in order to rape the nation of its resources and put the people into debt slavery. OK, next week it will be HATE THE RUSSIANS turn and then NKs turn.

This is the motus opperandi for the last 100 years of wars the US has been involved in. Rotten to the core.

    13. Traitor Hator says:

The king of the north:Kim? The king of the east : China? And now Persia? Iran? It’s like watching a movie? And knowing the ending?

    14. Muhammed lived in the seventh century. Islam includes a end-times prophecy which calls for a final world war between Muslims and non-Muslims. Muhammed fought his wars on horseback using swords, bows & arrows, and spears. If he lived today in a world with weapons of mass destruction, he would reject his prophecy of end times and ask “Are you crazy?”. Let’s hope that there are enough sane people in the Islamic world to keep the crazies in check!

    15. aljamo says:

Free will and free choice to choose which side you are on. I don’t recall Iran attacking anyone. The greatest terrorist threat in the world? Americans chase an impossible dream pounded into their heads from birth. American superiority while awaiting the big realism splat.

    16. Daarkwing says:

This is history repeat: 1953 the US CIA and the Mossad took out an elected president and put in a US CIA puppet. THe US and jew land know that they will not win a war with Iran. The middle east must be kept unstable to make jew land and the bankers happy.

    17. jimbo says:

The Leftist trolls are out in force here today I see.

    18. Demonstrators: In America we shoot them with rubber and real bullets, gas them, beat the living sh.. out of them, then run over them with used armored military vehicles while they lay in the street. Oh, did I mention, we then put them on trial for standing up for their right to protest!!!

    19. I heard that they (IRAN) shutdown the internet or parts of the internet. Need a backup plan

    20. The Iranians are Shia Muslims. The Saudis are Sunni Muslims. Al Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS, Al Nusra are Sunni. Get it?
