The confidence game is almost up warns Prudent Bear Fund President David Tice. And when the economic recovery and stock market build-up is finally revealed for the conjecture that it really is we’ll have a sell-off of unprecedented proportions.
Markets could soon face a fall of up to 60 percent, two experts told CNBC on Wednesday.
A jolt to international confidence in central banks will lead to a 30 to 60 percent market decline, David Tice, president of Tice Capital and founder of the Prudent Bear Fund, told CNBC’s “Power Lunch.” When this happens, he said, markets will face a “period of extreme turmoil.”
This crash will be precipitated, he said, by a disillusionment with the Federal Reserve’s “confidence game,” which will then see inflation rise, and the Fed scramble to raise rates. At that point, Tice added, “the Fed starts to lose control.” (CNBC)
Buckle up, because there is no stopping what is coming. The signs for an impending catastrophe can no longer be ignored.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, but given the seriousness of the crisis in 2008, we should expect the entire bottom to fall out of not only stock markets, but the economy and the U.S. dollar as well.
It was so bad in 2008, in fact, that then-Secretary Henry Paulson claimed we were on the brink and even wrote a book about it.
According to Representative Brad Sherman, Congressional members were approached at the time and told to brace for a complete collapse of our financial system, to the point that tanks would have to be deployed on the streets of America if Congress failed to authorize the multi-trillion dollar bank bailout.
Many of us were told in private conversations that if we voted against this bill on Monday, that the sky would fall, the market would drop two or three thousands points the first day, another couple thousand the second day, and a few members were even told that there would be martial law in America if we voted no.

Only ways there can be a market correction is if the Fed stops printing $, the broker houses are disappeared, the traders are banned from trading, and the derivatives market is shoved up the ass of everyone who had there fingers in that pot.

I just sidelined my retirement IRS’s 2 weeks ago. Not that I have a lot, but what I do have I am content to let sit in money market accounts instead of stocks/bonds. Obviously it is still at risk, but should be much less so. If I have to wait it out for 2 years, so be it. But I am confident in another correction soon.
You are partially correct in my opinion. Yes, absolutely the market is due for a big adjustment, but it will be much more than a “correction” coming. (And yes,full disclosure -I’m an RIA)

At the beginning of 2007 I started to get really nervous about my 401K. I had just crossed the point where my net worth was (barely) positive, and the markets just didn’t feel right. I fretted about it until September of that year, when I finally made the decision, pulled the trigger, took the 10% penalty plus increased taxes for the year, took a full disbursement and settled all my debts except my mortgage.
It was a great call. Since then I’ve had personal stuff get in the way of getting ahead, done 2 household moves and am hopefully just finishing up a career change, after which I’ll be able to be more mobile, find a job in the hinterlands far easier and make probably the last move of my life.
For me, money market accounts in a 401K are not safe enough, nor do they give enough return for the risk involved. I’ve got a small emergency stash of cash, a small long-term stash of physical precious metals and that is it. Until I have maybe 2 years of living expenses (on top of 2 years of stored consumables) I will not be participating in the markets in any real way. I used to understand them at least somewhat, but I don’t at all anymore and I won’t risk my money on something that acts in ways I don’t understand.
So for me it’s storables, cash and PMs until such time as the markets return to sanity. Which is probably to say my child may someday participate in the markets but I’m not likely to again. This smells like the type of situation where whatever happens in the next few years will happen (and it will be epic), and “normal” times will take a long time to come back. So I’m only interested in things that will help my family through those times, and things that will definitely have value on the other side of it.

Mr Smith: I’ve been taking money out of the bank but every time I make a withdraw, direct deposit slaps more in acct. within a few days. Retirees understand this, meaning they should withdraw more cash. Suggest: eating out more, spending more (since money is worth less in value) replacing older appliances, plumbing fixtures, leaking windows, flooring, etc. Just replaced an older bicycle this week and got us two 2015 cars early in the month. IRA’s and 401K’s: all retirees and those close to ret. need to get out of stocks into bonds or regular mmkt, but not a mmkt mutual fund.
If a huge meltdown like this hits even bonds will not be safe as there will be no market for them. Especially treasuries when the Fed can no longer buy them.

There is virtually no buying volume in the market. The market makers have been relegated to the sidelines and insiders rule the day. Watch for the sell side to start picking up then get short. Might as well gamble on a couple of far out of the money puts. they are cheap and could pay a huge return providing the board of options settlements will still be solvent in such a meltdown. Just like a horse race with too many winning bets and not enough to pay them.

Perhaps you haven’t noticed, Jezebel, but things have been getting steadily worse over the last few years– its true the bridge hasn’t collapsed yet, but experts can never predict the exact day or minute before a bridge collapses… they can point out that the old bridge is drooping, that the planks are broken in place, and that parts of the side bars are falling off and into the river below… but no one knows for sure the day or time… but that doesn’t take away from the fact that things are getting steadily worse and sometimes its scary as heck, because you are aware how things are deteriorating!

60% drop is recoverable. Even a 90% is recoverable as it has happened before. The real issue is a TOTAL COLLAPSE. Times are going to run much like they are now even with a 60% drop because we don’t even know where TRUE money is to begin with. 60% could be in real terms nothing as bad as people think because money has been so manipulated.
The thing to watch for is what happens BEFORE a total collapse. There almost certainly has to be a really big terrible event to take the attention away from an economic cave in. There is just too much power INVESTED in the monetary system making all of us slaves. This catastrophe is what everyone should consider preparing for. In the past it has been war. This time it could be a plague on steroids. Again, I would not take much worry in a 60% drop unless it just keeps free falling from there.

I stopped watching the stock market a few years ago. Just all too easily manipulated digits on a screen, even the phd mathematicians don’t seem to understand.
Instead I keep a beady eye on the Baltic Dry Index which tells me what tangible goods and products are being bought an sold globally. It seems far harder for the elite to manipulate beyond my comprehension. Any Mom and Pop shop will tell you that if people stop buying from their shop they’ll be out of business. The same is true of nations. Watching this has given me a far clearer picture of where things really stand than the stock markets from my simple perspective.
The Baltic dry index is a good weather forecaster for those of us who don’t have fancy degrees in economics or care to translate all those “expert” views into plain english. I’ll leave stock market speculation to those who can afford gamble.
My goals
– get out of debt including the mortgage – done, so I’m no longer a slave for the elite.
– sort out the basics for long term survival to be as independent of the whole damn corrupt system as I can manage.
– save silver coins that I can see, touch and smell as and when I am able.
Gold would be nice to have, but I’m not in a position to own that. I also have no illusions of a pension when I reach that age. For those under 50 it’s safe to assume that most of us will have to work until we drop or that our kids will have to support us as already happens in the 3rd world. Multi-generational living doesn’t seem like a bad option if it saves my child from becoming a 30 year slave to the system.
While the down turn is expected and is coming I believe the economic or dollar collapse will be allowed to happen once ‘they’ have the proper event or events to blame as the reason and then the loss of all Freedoms for security and services. The Patriot Act on Steroids will be presented along with the need to create a New Economic Union as the North American Union to compete. In the mean time the Planets population will be systematically reduced as mentioned by the various think tanks and foundations to 1-2 Billion Souls. Then the AI will take care of the rest a few years later. IMO

If you LEARNED the Christian faith you would learn that God gave woman to man and man to woman. They are a team with different roles. But they are both called to love and respect their spouse. The use of strident male dominance is not Christian. Woman is to recognize her spouse as head of the family and he in turn is to use the wisdom of Solomon to run his family with love and consideration of what is good for the family not just himself.
Men are to follow Christ as their example. Christs’ bride was his church which he worked hard to create. He then gave every last drop of his blood for her. Husbands are called to be the head of the family and to give of themselves for the good of the family. That is very different than being a bully or putting women down.

I know my opinions and thoughts ain’t really all that great or important, but when you share what little you know, you would like to see what people think of them. A small nuke dropped in a major city could set off the pull-out/cash-in, also. Several climatic events could cause the plummet.
Anything that would rob people of their future retirement investments would set the stage for hell on earth and overtime shifts at the morgues.

Picked up a Tops .230 just last week. Very nice. OD green micarta handles, full tang with a OD green blade powder coating. Nice scabbard but not Molle compatible, yet. Blade is shaving sharp. Heavy enough to baton wood with, nice heft. Worth every penny.

When the SHTF and the power goes out, how do you hold up a 4×8 sheet of plywood over your window and screw in 3in. screws with a screwdriver? I can do it, but it will take time. I would also add that you should start learning to live a life that is not dependent on the labor of others. Learn to fix your own car, lawnmower, computer, etc. Start a backyard garden and learn what works and what doesn’t while you can still fall back on the local grocery store. If you think you are just going to throw seeds in the ground and eat from it in a month or two, you are sadly mistaken. If you know someone who hunts for food, see if you can tag along and learn from them. People who can do these things are naturally more prepared to adapt to new circumstances than those who just slide a credit card to get through life. Remember: preparedness is earned, not bought.

The problem with HAM is that it is expensive to get involved in. However, everyone can afford some sort of shortwave radio to hear broadcasts from outside their own country. Even a cheap $10 model off Ebay can get plenty of broadcasts if linked with a stretched out Slinky via a wire with alligator clips on it’s ends. Using this setup I have heard English language broadcasts from Cuba, Moscow Russia, Germany, Australia, Japan and Beijing China as well as some in languages I don’t speak like Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi, etc. It’s an essential prep and one that doesn’t have to break the bank.
Ham is not expensive. You can get hand held 2 way radios for $150 with 25 to 50 mile radius. You can invest for a few hundred dollars a long antenna you can drap over the top of a tree nice and stealthy that will receive or broadcast much farther. Get something and store the radio in your Fararday cage to protect it from an EMP. Police scanners and ER scanners will also help. A lot of police scanners have encrypted channels unfortunately. Same with military. But many ER first responders follow police and vice versa to thev same incident scene. Get this radio gear ASAP. BE IN THE KNOW. Enen a CB Radio I bettrr than nothing. Look up your local ham broadcast channels.

Actually, I would expect pork products to drop significantly in the short term and beef products to rise dramatically. Report: Dogs Eating Dead Bodies Of Ebola Victims On Liberian Streets
Dogs in one community in Liberia have been reported eating the remains of dead Ebola victims lying on the streets and seen pulling the bodies out of the graves and eating the remains.
“dogs can be infected with the Ebola virus but that infections appear to be ASYMPTOMATIC.”
“This means that dogs won’t get sick, but they still could carry AND SPREAD EBOLA through licking or biting…”

There are always “corrections”. The market always goes up then it always goes down. The problem we face is when and how far it falls. How long does it stay down? No one of us can guess or figure the exact time of a market collapse. The stock market stopped being investing and became gambling a long time ago. We know a retired guy in his 70’s who still has substantial money in the market. If it goes down he may not live long enough to see it come back up. Pull it out of the market and get something of value that has liquidity. Something that everybody needs. Like Jack Daniels.
